The Work of Wiryanto Dewobroto

Hari Selasa, Rabu dan Kamis tanggal 20 – 22 Agustus 2013, bertempat di Hotel Borobodur, Jakarta Pusat, berlangsung perhelatan besar para civil engineer dunia di Jakarta.

Dunia, karena seminar tahunan HAKI (Himpunan Ahli Konstruksi Indonesia) ini, bergabung bersamaan dengan seminar tiga-tahunan CECAR (Civil Engineering Conference in The Asian Region) ke-6. Jadi, jika biasanya seminar HAKI hanya berlangsung selama dua hari, maka kemarin itu menjadi tiga hari lamanya (belum termasuk work-shop lho).

Meskipun berlangsung selama tiga hari, tetapi karena banyaknya pemakalah maka acaranyapun dibagi-bagi lagi dalam beberapa kelas paralel. Hebat, hebat, hanya sayangnya saja matanya hanya dua, jadi terbatas untuk bisa mengikuti semua. Oleh karena itu kadang bingung sendiri materi apa yang akan diikuti. Maklum, judul-judul makalahnya bervariasi, mulai dari jembatan bentang panjang, bangunan tinggi tahan gempa, BIM (Building Information Modelling), bahkan ada juga yang membahas soal anti korupsi.

Bingung ya. Koq sampai anda sesion anti korupsi diacara para civil engineer. Saya juga bingung, tetapi yang jelas kebanyakan yang menyampaikannya adalah tamu manca negara. Logikanya sih, proyek-proyek konstruksi itu khan menyedot dana publik yang begitu besar, jadi strategi menghindari korupsi perlu diupayakan agar dana yang dikeluarkan benar-benar untuk proyek konstruksi (tidak bocor). Jika demikian maka mutu pekerjaan bisa terjaga.

Mengikuti seminar HAKI tahun ini, terus terang tidak direncanakan, maklum tidak ada submit paper. Dengan demikian, tidak ada alasan ke kampus untuk pembiayaannya. Tapi untunglah ada teman sejawat, sesama structural engineer yang menjadi direktur perusahaan konsultan ternama berkenan membantu. Atas bantuan beliaulah, aku dapat didaftarkan hadir di acara tersebut. Ini khan ibarat: pucuk dicinta, ulam tiba. Jadi hadirlah saya di acara besar tersebut.

Acara seminar HAKI memang berbeda dibanding acara-acara seminar akademik teknik sipil lain yang biasa diselenggarakan di negeri ini. Acara ini banyak diminati oleh para praktisi insinyur, juga akademisi. Setahuku, untuk setiap seminar HAKI, maka hampir semua teman-teman ex-PT. Wiratman, tempat pertama aku bekerja profesional di bidang rekayasa teknik sipil, pada banyak yang datang. Jadi meskipun tidak membawakan makalah (maklum, ini cara pikir orang yang bekerja jadi dosen lho), tetapi dapat bertemu dengan teman-teman lama sepemikiran (seprofesi), tentunya cukup menarik.

Tidak kuduga tidak hanya bertemu teman ex-PTW, tetapi pada kesempatan tersebut dapat bertemu langsung dengan owner PTW, yaitu Prof. Wiratman Wangsadinata, yang kebetulan pada hari tersebut membawakan makalahnya. Disamping kanan Prof. Wiratman Wangsadinata adalah  ex-manager-ku dulu di PTW yang saat ini juga telah menjadi guru besar di UPH, yaitu Prof. Harianto Hardjasaputra. Tidak terasa, sudah hampir 20 tahun aku meninggalkan kantor PTW, tempat aku belajar ilmu rekayasa teknik sipil dahulu.

Kecuali teman-teman lama, yang menarik lagi karena acara ini gabungan HAKI dan CECAR maka berkumpullah pakar-pakar nasional dan dunia secara bersamaan. Dengan mendengar dan melihat presentasi yang disampaikan kita bisa mengetahui apa yang sedang state of the art di bidangnya. Sekaligus juga dapat menjadi benchmarking pengatahuan dan keahlian yang kita miliki. Bahkan selain itu, karena dapat mendengar dari orang-orang yang terlibat secara langsung, dapat diketahui issue terkini yang mungkin di koran-koran tidak diberitakan. Ini khan seru ya.

Selain itu, mungkin karena tulisan saya menimbulkan kesan yang positip, maka pada acara tersebut ada-ada saja yang datang memperkenalkan diri. Untuk itu tentu saya menyambut dengan senang hati.  Maklum, mungkin beliau sudah sering memberi membaca dan memberi komentar, dan sudah merasa kenal (di blog ini khan ada fotoku) tetapi karena aku belum pernah ketemu langsung, maka tentu saja jika teman-teman ini tidak datang memperkenalkan diri, maka aku juga tidak tahu. Atas inisiatifnya memperkenalkan diri, aku mengucapkan terima kasih. Jadi acara seminar tersebut juga menjadi ajang ketemu para pembaca blog ini.

Tentu para pembaca blog tahu kalau salah satu topik tulisanku adalah masalah jembatan. Ternyata itu menjadi daya tarik teman-teman yang menggeluti jembatan untuk menjadikannya bahan diskusi, meskipun keberadaannya hanya mengandalkan “dunia maya”, internet. Memang, teman-teman yang aku maksud tentunya yang memahami bahasa Indonesia saja. Tetapi jangan salah, meskipun bahasa ibunya bahasa Indonesia, tetapi kepakaran atau keahliannya tidak diragukan lagi kalau bicara tentang jembatan. Nah, acara HAKI kemarin juga menjadi acara temu muka atau temu darat dengan beliau-beliau tersebut. Lihat Gambar 2, berdiri disebelahku langsung adalah Dr. Dion Siringoringo (Bridge & Structure Laboratory – University of Tokyo), Robby Permata (kandindat doktor Kyoto University) dan Donald Essen (PT. Wiratman & Associates).

Baik, kelihatanya sudah terlalu banyak ceritanya. Ini khan yang anda tunggu-tunggu, yaitu makalah-makalah pada prosiding yang kudapat dari acara tersebut. Semoga berguna bagi teman-teman engineer yang tidak berkesempatan hadir.
