On the behalf of the Conference Chairman Datin Prof. Dr. Nasly binti Mohamed Ali and Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd. Warid Hussin of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, I am pleased to announce you the 7^th Asia Pacific Structural Engineering and Construction Conference 2009 (APSEC 2009) and the 2^nd European Asian Civil Engineering Forum (EACEF 2009) will be held in Awana Porto Malai, Langkawi, Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia from 4 – 6 August 2009.

APSEC 2009 is an international conference focusing on topics related to structural engineering and construction. The 1^st APSEC conference was held in 1989 in the historical city of Malacca. Since then the conference was held regularly at every three years and had attracted many researchers, academics and engineers from local and foreign. APSEC 2009 is set up as a strong platform to fruitful interaction and exchange of ideas, the latest technological advances, research results, design innovations as well as state-of-the-art information in the field of structural analysis, design, experiment and construction between scientists and engineers from both the academia and industry.

The 1^st EACEF Conference was held in September 2007 organised by Universitas Pelita Harapan, Jakarta, Indonesia. The 1^st Conference was held at the Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Global Campus, located in Jakarta. The main objective of this two day conference is to provide a forum among European and Asian engineers in research and practice to present and to discuss the state-of-the-art as well as new research development in the field of Civil Engineering. The 2^nd EACEF to be held in 2009 at Malaysia will be jointly organised with the APSEC 2009 committee.

The Organising Committee invites you to present paper(s) and/or participate in the Technical Session of the Conference. The successes and achievement gained in the last conferences have been remarkable and we are confident that this APSEC-EACEF 2009 will bring significant benefits to the industry. Your support and participation will be much appreciated.

Please bring along your colleagues and friends to join us. You may visit the scenic, cultural and historical places in Malaysia during the week of the conference.
